Happy Mama’s Day!
It’s Mother’s Day on May 10 and I can’t wait for my husband, relatives and friends to greet me on this very special day. I remember the first time my husband greeted me Happy Mother’s day, Cerise was still inside me. Now she’s with me, outside my womb and we will celebrate Mother’s Day together and I’m so very excited.
I don’t have plans yet how to spend this day, although it would be really nice if my husband was here. I’m sure we will go out and have dinner somewhere then bond with our little girl. But since, he’s not here, maybe I’ll just make pancakes and sing in our videoke while Cerise claps her hand while I sing!
I miss my mom though. She’s the first person that I will greet whenever Mother’s Day is around. It would be really cool sharing stuff with her and hearing her stories about me…how was I like when I was a baby. I remember back when we were kids, we used to make handmade cards for our mom…be it her birthday, mother’s day or valentine’s day. She just loved them but as we grow older we stopped doing it and just resorted to a kiss in the cheek. This is the second time that I will greet her happy mom’s day minus the kiss on the cheek.
But I do have other “moms” in my life. Andyan si Nanay, our grandmother who took really good care of us - my siblings and I while growing up, there’s Tita Encee who’s like my real mom kulang na lang ilabas niya ako sa sinapupunan niya and si Mommy Jean, my aunt, who also took care of me. And then, there’s my new mom si Mama Lins, my mother-in-law, who wholeheartedly extended to me her love and affection.
Our mothers are the most special person in our lives. They’ve given so much and never expected anything in return. I never realized how loving and devoted mothers are not until I became a mom myself. The love I have for Cerise goes beyond boundaries and I will do everything for her. The way she looks and smiles at me warms my heart so much that I thank the Lord everyday for giving her in my life.
So to all my mom and would-be-mom friends out there, Happy, Happy Mother’s Day! I honor you and share this day with you with all my heart!
