Papa’s Angioplasty!
Last week was one busy and tiring week. Our dad went through his first and hopefully his last angiogram and angioplasty. Boy! These medical procedures were really expensive, and guess who gave us the money to allow our dad to go through these procedures…who else but our Mom!
Yup, mom sent us the money! It was monday last week when our GSIS liason officer called me up telling me the check’s ready for our dad’s survivorship benefit. My dad and I picked it up and kept on talking about some of the things he’s planned to do with the money. It was an energizing talk and we parted with high hopes and happy thoughts. Come wednesday, my dad called me up at 5am saying he will be going to the hospital because he’s having chest pains. I went to FEU later that day to see him and he told me he will be transferred to PHC for angiogram. My siblings and I were praying he’d be ok and that the test will be clear. But on Thursday, after his angiogram, the doctor told us he has a 90% block in his artery and needs to undergo angioplasty A.S.A.P.
We all had an idea how expensive this procedure is because one of our uncles recently went through with it and spent Php700k. I remember, a friend told me, “DI kayo bibigyan ni Lord ng pagsubok na di niyo kakayanin” and she’s right! My father went through his angioplasty and it was a breeze. The money that we got (thanks mom!), was enough to cover both procedures and with the help from our relatives in the US and my super kind bayaw (Kuya!)…my dad has money left for his medication.
My father was always teary-eyed whenever we visit him to the hospital, he can really feel our mom’s love for him even if she’s with the Lord already. She’s one of our angels…guiding us through, loving and protecting us. Thank you mumsie…hopefully next time it will be all fun and laughter, hehe no more surprises like this!
Special thanks to Mama Lins for taking care of my Cerise while I’m busy with my father and thank you Papa Randy for always dropping me off to the hospital and also for driving our dad home when he was released last Tuesday (April 21) from PHC.
To all those people who prayed with us and gave their love and support, our warmest thanks and God bless!
