A very looong weekend!
Cerise just went through her first “high fever.” I was so scared because her temperature reached around 103°F (39.4 C). She had the fever last Wednesday and we decided to have her checked last Thursday. Her Pedia gave her antibiotics for the cough that she had a week ago to get rid of the phlegm residue. We were also told by the doctor that if the fever persists after two days, we have to have her tested for dengue, nyikes!
When we came home, her fever returned. Her entire head and both her armpits were feverishly hot but her feet were really cold. I spent the entire night sponge bathing her to keep her temperature down. I was also giving her paracetamol every four hours. Fortunately, her fever subsided in the morning and she was really sweating. But I was surprised that she has developed a rash on her tummy and red spots on her face. I immediately called her doctor and she told me not to worry. She told me it was “roseola,” also called ”exanthem subitum” and locally known as “tigdas hangin.” She told me that as long as Cerise is in good disposition, has no fever, and eats and drinks a lot, then she’s fine. Her pedia was really nice to entertain us over the phone.. some pedia would tell you to come over and charge you for consultation.
By the next day, Cerise has slowly regained her strength. She loves eating her Cerelac (banana-wheat and milk) and Gerber apple sauce hehe! Today, she’s up and about…she has her little shrieks and kept babbling sounds I can’t understand!
Thank God she’s ok now! It was indeed a very long weekend. How I wish she wouldn’t get sick again. Love you so much sweetheart!
